Spencer, 6-foot, 175-pounds, is one of several playmakers on offense, and he is making the most of his opportunities. He combines good speed with excellent route-running ability.
"I'm having a great year, and I'm a lot better player than I was last year," Spencer stated. "I was mostly a speed guy last year, and I just tried to run by everyone. This year, I'm really concentrating on catching every pass thrown my way, and having no drops at all."
"I want to get quicker off the line, and I need to add more strength to be able to be more physical in dealing with defensive backs and linebackers," he added. "I love blocking, and if I can add more bulk, it will only make me even better."
Following a great summer camp season, Spencer earned his first offer, from Bowling Green. Several other schools are checking out this 2014 prospect.
"I have the Bowling Green offer, and a few others say they're close," he explained. "Pittsburgh has been to the school and they have said they like my film a lot, but they haven't offered. West Virginia, Nebraska and Cincinnati are also in contact, and I love all of those schools."
"I want to get out and see games at all of these schools, but it's been impossible, because we play on nearly every Saturday," he continued. "They have all mentioned coming for unofficial visits this winter, and I want to get out to a lot more camps next summer."
