Quarterback Ryan Davis (St. Petersburg, Fla./Northeast) is a name you will be hearing a lot about over the next two and a half seasons. This kid is only a sophomore and he has an incredibly bright future ahead of him.

On Friday against a very good Tampa Catholic team, Davis finished 16/24 for well over 200 yards and three touchdown passes. He also threw for a late interception. Davis rushed for 104 yards. That included two jaw dropping runs from the pocket, where he eluded defenders, showing blazing speed and quickness.

Davis is a handful because if you bring the rush he's virtually impossible to sack. If he has time in the pocket he's got a good, accurate arm to pick you apart. In fact, despite his age, Davis does a fine job of taking what the defense is giving. He plays with patience, which is surprising in a younger signal caller. The only thing I would be concerned about with Davis and playing this position is size; he's only 5-foot-10ish. But let's remember he's just 15 years old.

Davis reminds me athletically of current Michigan quarterback Dennard Robinson, only at the same stage he has better arm strength. Davis is the younger brother of former FSU star Chris Davis. He already has scholarship offers from Florida State (as an athlete) and Indiana (quarterback) and Arizona (quarterback).

The neat thing here with Davis is being able to spend the next two years watching him develop his game. At least at this point he looks the part of the perfect quarterback for a spread scheme.

Below are some highlights of Davis from Friday night against Tampa Catholic. David Lewis, former Tampa Bay Buccaneer linebacker and current Tampa Catholic defensive coordinator, was stunned to learn that Davis was only a sophomore. The two spoke after the game and Lewis just shook his head in amazement.
