Scott a Game Changer in Win

FOX Sports NEXT is in the streets this fall to bring you all the coverage from across the Midlands region. Recently, we caught up with La Porte linebacker Hoza Scott from Texas. He talked with us about the game win and his plans for this upcoming weekend…

In any contest, the game comes down to a couple of critical plays. And though most of the credit is differed to the entire team, La Porte outside linebacker Hoza Scott made a number of ‘those' plays in the Friday night showdown between cross-town rivals.

"It was real good for us. Coach told me we needed a play (on offense at wide receiver) and I caught the pass right before halftime. On defense, my team said we need to make a play, and I told them I got them and could do that," Scott said of his play on the night. "We work as a team and keep our composure. We don't give up,"

And Scott delivered. And the plays made were the difference in a La Porte win over rival Deer Park 20-16. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound five-star defender was all over the field making plays on both sides.

Just before half, he caught a 20-yard touchdown pass to tie the game and he also scored the game winner when he stripped and scored from 26 yards out for the go ahead touchdown to sin the game.

"I got the ball back took it from the running back and returned it for a touchdown. I seen him pull it (the ball) back and I popped it from under him," Scott said. "I caught it with my left hand and returned it."

On top of all of this production, Scott's primary position at linebacker, he put up some impressive numbers there as well. He had 10 tackles, two sacks and two quarterback pressures. Those are of course unofficial numbers, but clearly it's evident that his production was nothing short of impressive.

Something else that is impressive is his offer list, which includes schools like LSU, Texas and Alabama. Another program which is on his list as well will have him on campus for tomorrow.

"I'm getting a bunch of colleges still coming. It's too many to name," Scott said. "I'm going to Texas A&M tomorrow for the LSU game."
