Shykeem Pitts is a very talented football player who is very underrated when you talk about prospects from central Florida. He's the best athlete at Davenport's Ridge Community High School, where he starts at quarterback and safety but also plays wide receiver, cornerback and returns kicks and punts.
"Shykeem is so athletic at everything he does," said Richard Tate, Ridge Community's coach. "That's his big strength. He has this knack or intuition. The kid has great instincts. It's a gift and it's so effortless to him. He's one of those guys that can take it to the house from where ever he is on the field."
Pitts had a good game on Friday against Lake Region, where he made plays on offense, defense and special teams.
"I hope you didn't see that first quarter," Pitts said. "Boy we played bad but then we picked things up. I just tried to make some plays. I just know when I have the ball in my hands I can make things happen. I am elusive and fast and can get open playing receiver."
"I don't have any visits lined up yet," Pitts said. "I have been to FSU for a few games. I am also hearing from Georgia, UCF, Louisville and Missouri a whole lot. Most teams like me at cornerback or [slot] receiver. I am just looking for the best fit."
