Junior Lineman Seeing Interest Grow

Hilliard Bradley junior offensive lineman Skylar Hartley has followed up a fine summer camp season by having an impressive junior year on the field. Although looking for his first offer, Hartley is hearing from several top schools.

Skylar Hartley made a name for himself last summer when the Hilliard (OH) Bradley lineman took his physical style of play to various camps and combines. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound, guard has had a fine junior year and college recruiters have noticed.

"Recruiting is going great for me and I've been invited to go to games at a lot of schools," Hartley stated. "I was at Ohio State last Saturday for the game with Purdue, and that was amazing. It was an unbelievable experience, and unlike anything I've ever seen before. I've also been to games at Akron and Indiana."

"I was able to talk with (assistant coaches) Ed Warriner and Kirk Barton at Ohio State, and both were great," he added. "They both told me they were glad I was able to make it, and they would be in touch with me. I like things at Indiana too, and their facilities are really awesome."

If his schedule permits, Hartley could be visiting a few other schools over the next month.

"I've been invited to games at Wisconsin, Michigan, Boston College, Illinois, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh," he explained. "Nothing is set yet, but I think I will be going to Michigan and Pittsburgh in the next few weeks. If I can, I'd like to see the other schools too."

"Michigan is a place I'm very interested in, and I'm looking forward to checking out the campus and seeing how things are up there," he continued. "I don't know much about Pitt, but I want to learn more about the school and the football program. All these schools are recruiting me as an inside player, at center or guard."

Hartley has impressed this season on the field, and he is a better player than he was last year as a sophomore.

"I feel I'm a lot better and there's a lot I can improve on," Hartley said. "My speed has increased and that has helped me so much in getting to linebackers, and just moving quicker. I want to bulk up more in the weight room, and get even stronger."
