One of the Sunshine State's top receivers is Tony Stevens from Orlando Evans. He was an early commitment to Florida State but has recently backed off that decision. Now, Ohio State, Georgia, USF and others are all in hot pursuit. It appears that Stevens is likely leaving the state. He declined comment on Thursday night after his team's game on the road at Orlando Dr. Phillips.
Stevens had a relatively quiet night for Evans. This four-star receiver did have a 43-yard touchdown reception. On this play he ran a simple go route. Stevens beat the cornerback and Dr. Phillips safety Marcell Harris couldn't get over in time. Stevens is every bit of 6-foot-3 and runs well. He is definitely a big time deep threat. He's a graceful long strider that also plays free safety, although he only played sparingly on that side of the ball on Thursday.
Evans quarterback Lavar Robinson targets Stevens on several throws but the two just could not connect except on that one play.
Below is a highlight of the touchdown pass as well as an end around.
