"The trip was great and the atmosphere there I've never seen anything like it," said LaRubbio. "We visited Pittsburgh before we got there and arrived a little late and there were so many people it took us forever to get to our seats. But it was really cool and the wildest place I've ever been to. It gave me goose bumps."
With his late arrival LaRubbio stayed over Saturday night returning to campus on Sunday for a closer look.
"I spoke with the offensive line coach (Mac McWhorter) and met with them on Sunday morning," said LaRubbio. "Coach (John) Butler said he's going to be coming in to see me more in the winter and that I'm one of the offensive linemen they are going to be recruiting hard come December.
"I really liked the coaches as they were more interested in me than just about football. They want to get to know me so it was good to hear that and to talk about something else than just football."
Twenty-four hours later LaRubbio was still thinking about his game day visit.
"It was unbelievable," said LaRubbio. "They had something like 107,815 people in their stadium and their student section was just crazy with the White Out."
With offers from Pittsburgh and Akron already in hand, LaRubbio knows an offer from Penn State is something to be proud of.
"It would be an honor to get an offer from them," said LaRubbio. "We talked and I fully understand they have a limited number of scholarships. However, it sounded like they were going to offer me in December or January. So it would be a huge honor and mean a lot coming from such a prestigious school."
With Friday's success on the field LaRubbio now has to change some planned visits.
FOXSportsNEXT.com will continue to follow LaRubbio as his recruitment picks up in the coming months.
