Four Set to Visit Herd

Marshall hosts the second of back to back home games this weekend as the Memphis Tigers travel to Huntington to take on the Herd. Last week, the Herd only hosted one official visitor. This weekend, the staff prepares for four potential student athletes to travel to Huntington and visit the campus, the city, and the program.

When looking at the small number of recruits making their official visits this year, one must remember that Marshall only graduates eight scholarship football players. Taking into consideration current non qualifiers and grey shirts, the class could be as small as six to eight new commitments.

This past weekend, Marshall was visited by Junior College safety Taj Letman. Letman had a great visit, and does hold an offer from the Herd.

This week Marshall will be visited by a current commitment, and three other student athletes, two of which already hold offers from the Herd.

Josh Knight – Knight is a 6'1", 180 pound wide receiver from Fort Pierce Central High School in Fort Pierce, Florida. Knight is a two star prospect who holds offers from Florida International, Memphis, and USF.

Kevin Anderson – Anderson is a 6'2", 200 pound quarterback from Boca Raton High School. Anderson was injured a few weeks ago and is out for the season. Anderson is a two star quarterback who could potentially be a mid year enrollee which would make him just the fourth scholarship quarterback on the Marshall roster. Anderson is already committed to the Herd and has stated he is firm in his commitment.

Stafon McRay – McRay is a three star running back from Osceola High School in Florida. McRay is a bigger running back, weighing in at a little over 200 pounds already. McRay is having a solid senior year at Osceola. McRay holds an offer from Marshall, along with offers from Ohio and Utah, both of which he intends on visiting in the future.

Maquedius Bain – Bain is the highest rated recruit of the bunch, and plays a position that the Herd is in need of. Bain is a four star defensive tackle from the University School of Nova Sout in Florida. Bain has currently set up three official visits. The first is this weekend to Marshall. His next two visits are on November 17th to LSU, and Oklahoma on the 24th. Bain has offers from pretty much every BCS school, including Alabama, Florida, Louisville, and the aforementioned LSU and Oklahoma.

The four players will begin their visits on Friday and go through Sunday most likely.
