Florida DL waiting on test score

Joe Jones is a standout defensive end prospect from Chaminade Madonna High and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Joe Jones is one of the best defensive ends in Broward County this year and has a few offers -- Idaho and North Alabama. He's hoping to add more real soon.

"I've been talking to USF, Kentucky, and New Mexico," Jones said. "USF, Kentucky, and Illinois are waiting for my test score. I also have a non-commitable offer to Buffalo, contingent on my test score. I should have that this week."

Those newer schools on his list have his attention.

"I have high interest in USF, Illinois, and Kentucky," he said. "I also like Ole Miss."

Jones, 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, believes USF could be on the verge of offering. He talked more about his situation with the Bulls.

"I talk to Coach Patrick all the time," he said. "He told me I'm in the thick of things for them and to keep working hard and keep getting after the quarterback. He's watching me. He says he can tell I'm getting bigger."

As a Prospect: Jones played a lot on the interior of the defensive line last season but lacks ideal size to play there at the next level. He was active and has shown that he's a very good football player. He will play defensive end at the college level and college coaches will also like how he plays both ways (tight end, too).
