Landing legacy recruits hasn't always worked to NC State's advantage but it did this weekend when Laurinburg (NC) Scotland County LB Artemis Robinson (6-2, 215 pounds) committed to the Wolfpack.
The younger brother of former Pack LB and current Green Bay Packer Terrell Manning, Robinson received an official offer from State this weekend and wasted no time in committing with Manning looking on. The Wolfpack's latest commitment talked with Pack Pride about how it felt to join NC State.
"It felt great," said Robinson. "It was an awesome feeling. They pulled me in and made the offer official and I just can't explain the feeling. It was great because I've been around the facilities, the coaches, the atmosphere, the stadium, the fans. It was just awesome.
"I just loved everything about State- the fans, the coaches and just the game experience. It was just a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of the Wolfpack so I pulled the trigger."
As fate would have it, Green Bay had a bye this weekend which allowed Manning to attend the game on Saturday. Robinson said his older brother supported where ever he decided to attend college.
"He was proud of me. He kept telling me to follow my heart but that he was going to be there for me regardless of the decision I made."
So what was the coaches reaction to Robinson's quick decision?
"The coaches, they were really excited- especially coach O'Brien and coach Tenuta. They were bouncing off the walls."
Robinson is a Shrine Bowl selection and has played a huge role in Scotland's run through the playoffs. He has totaled 122 tackles so far this season and leads the Scots against EE Smith this weekend in the third round of the state playoffs.
Robinson chose the Pack over offers from East Carolina, Duke and Wake Forest.
