With three early offers, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco 2014 defensive end Malik Dorton has already garnered interest from a few college programs.

"I have offers from Utah and Utah State and I just picked an offer from Arizona State this morning," he said on Friday.

The latest offer came as a bit of a surprise, as Dorton had only been talking with the program for a short while.

"I've been in contact with the Sun Devils, but it just picked up over the past couple of days and then this morning, I got the offer. I'm really excited," he said.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound prospect also holds offers from Utah State and Utah, and had the chance to visit the latter's campus earlier this season.

"I've been talking with Utah for a while. I went out there a couple of weeks ago and got to spend some time touring the campus; I really liked the school, so they are something I'll look into. I had a really good time out there," he said.

Dorton, who says that he did not grow up a fan of one particular football team, is continuing to hear from other schools within the Pac-12 and recently had the chance to watch two of them face off at the Rose Bowl.

"I went to the UCLA versus Arizona game last week; it was a great experience. I've never seen a football game like that before. The jerseys were awesome and the guys came out and played fast; it was an amazing game. That was my first time to see a game at the Rose Bowl," he said.

Looking back on his season, Dorton can see an improvement in his ability on the field, which he displayed in Friday night's 38-17 victory over Las Flores (Calif.) Tesoro.

"Our team just came out here and played hard and were physical on both sides of the ball, so it showed on the field out there and that's why we got the win. For me personally, I can tell that in the past season, I have become a lot faster. I'm stronger now, too. Coming into the season, I was focused on just being a better player for my teammates. Now we're going to continue staying disciplined as we continue into playoffs," he said.

Dorton and the Braves face off against Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame this Friday night in the second round of playoffs.
