Official Visit Season for Syracuse Commits

While many are focused on prospects that have yet to make their decision, it is just as important to continue to recruit those that have already committed. Syracuse is doing just that as their commits will be taking official visits soon.

Official visits are a huge part of recruiting. Not just for the undecided, but for commits as well. Sometimes the most important recruiting a program can do are with the prospects who have already pledged. Syracuse is taking no chances with their commits, as they have official visits scheduled with most of the 2013 class.

On the weekend of December 1st, defensive end prospect Isaiah Johnson. As of now, he is visiting alone. Johnson is about as solid as a verbal commitment can be. But it never hurts to continue to show him some love. Johnson has seen the campus before, but will be shown the red carpet once again.

The bigger weekend is that of December 8th. Several commits will be on campus for an official visit with their future teammates. Quarterbacks Zach Allen and Austin Wilson will see the facilities from which they will attempt to be the leader of the Orange. Rochester product Devan Carter will also be touring the campus as he prepares to make the switch to linebacker.

Perhaps the most important commit in attendance during that weekend will be Augustus Edwards. Edwards recently received an offer from Florida State, so it is imperative Syracuse reaffirms their status with the 3-star running back.

Both weekends will be important as signing day looms less than three months away. Visits like these can help prevent flips down the road. With players like Edwards receiving attention from other schools, it could be critical for the Orange and their 2013 class.

Wayne Williams and Tyler Provo both said they will be taking officials to Syracuse but do not have the actual date scheduled yet.'s John Garcia Jr contributed to this report.
