Standouts for Reynolds

Pinole (Calif.) Valley defensive lineman Deonte Reynolds, who holds four offers and is hearing from others, says a few programs are standing out...

Though Pinole (Calif.) Valley's team had a few injuries, finishing the season 3-7, defensive lineman Deonte Reynolds finished out the season strong, growing as a player this year.

"I played defensive end and left tackle this season. I think I'll probably end up as a defensive end in college. I improved athletically, but more so in knowing the game. I've been watching a lot of film this season," he said.

The 6-foot-5, 330-pound prospect holds offers from Washington, Washington State, Colorado, and UNLV, and says one of those programs is really standing out.

"Recruiting has been good. My leader right now is Washington. I really like the coaching staff and the way they play defensively. I'm supposed to be going up to campus in a couple of weeks for my official visit," he said.

Reynolds' recruiter for the Huskies is [defensive line coach] Tosh Lupoi, with whom he's maintained a good relationship.

Though he hasn't picked up an offer from the Bruins quite yet, Reynolds says that UCLA has started showing a surge of interest lately, as he's been talking with his recruiter, [defensive line coach] Angus McClure.

"I'm talking to UCLA now, too and I'm really interested in their program. I like their academics. They have a great athletic program and I like their coaches. I haven't had the chance to see any of their games this season, but I think I'll be going down to UCLA in December," he said.

Reynolds will take his time exploring his options and is not in a rush to announce his decision.
