Sykes Says He's High on Badger Board

Wisconsin hosted Oak Park-River Forest (Ill.) junior defensive end Nile Sykes on Saturday. What did he think of the trip, and will he and other linebackers from the loaded 2014 class in Illinois look to go to the same school?

Nile Sykes, a 6'2, 225-lb linebacker-defensive end from Illinois visited Wisconsin on Saturday and saw an exciting game between the Badgers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

"It was awesome," he said. "Both teams fought hard. They went at it full go all four quarters. Unfortunately, Wisconsin couldn't pull it out, but the atmosphere was great."

Sykes currently holds offers from Illinois, Northern Illinois, Purdue, and Toledo, but the Badgers have been steadily showing interest throughout the process and he knows where he stands with them.

"I got to talk to some coaches after the game. Coach Buh and Coach Ash asked me how I was doing and how things were going in school. Coach Ash said he would make it up to my school in about two weeks. I've gotten messages saying I'm one of the top guys on their recruiting board. I just want to be patient, and I'm waiting to see what's going on."

This Saturday, Sykes will visit Ohio State for their rivalry clash with Michigan, and that is the only trip he currently has planned right now.

While at Wisconsin on Saturday, he had a chance to spend time with Clifton Garrett, a fellow class of 2014 linebacker from Illinois. Garrett and Sykes both train together at Core6, but going to the same school in college is not a certainty.

"That conversation has been joked about, like what if all you guys went to the same school, but no serious stuff."
