Sophomore Linebacker Stands Out

Toledo Central Catholic advanced to the Ohio semi-final round of the playoffs last Friday, as they easily defeated Avon 42-14. Sophomore linebacker Chris Green helped key a strong defensive effort.

Sophomore linebacker Chris Green made several impressive plays for Toledo Central Catholic in last Friday's 42-14 playoff win over Avon.

Green, 6-foot-1, 230-pounds, is a physical, run-stopper in the middle, with the speed to chase down ballcarriers.

"Tonight's game was a lot of fun, and I love playing out here with my teammates," Green stated. "I just love playing football. I think I played well, but I've had better games. I'm just trying to work hard and get better. I played as a backup defensive end last year as a freshman."

Although Green has not received much recruiting attention to date, that should be about to change if he continues to play at this level.

"I haven't really heard anything from any colleges yet," he explained. "I would love to hear from schools like Ohio State and Michigan, and I hope to be that type of a recruit some day."

"I think I'm the type of player that is mature for my age, and I try to keep my teammates up during the games," he continued. "I just want to keep on getting faster and stronger over the offseason, to become a better player."

Central Catholic will battle Aurora this week for the right to play for the Ohio Division-II state title next week.
