Texas DE High On Missouri, Planning Visit

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with one of the top uncommitted defensive ends in the 2013 class from the state of Texas, who updates us on his recruitment, including his interest in the Missouri Tigers.

More than six months ago, 2013 DE prospect Dimarya Mixon   6'4"  245   Mesquite (TX) West Mesquite had verbally committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils.  Since then, Mixon's recruitment has been heating up, and he's received a number of offers, as well as having taken a trio of official visits.

Mixon's been on official visits to Arizona State, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.  In addition to those three schools, Mixon has received offers from Baylor, Kansas State, Mississippi, Missouri, Syracuse, and Washington State, among others.

A couple of weeks ago, Mixon re-opened his recruitment, and he's been in frequent contact with the Missouri staff.

"I spoke to (Coach Pinkel) last week,"  said Mixon, who is planning to visit Missouri in early December.  "I'll probably go down there the first of December."

Mixon said that he's "high" on Missouri, and he included the Tigers among his favorites, along with Arizona State, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.

Mixon has a fifth official visit available, but he said that he's "not sure" where he might go on that visit.   He said that he anticipates making a decision "probably sometime around December or January".

Mixon's West Mesquite team was eliminated from the state playoffs last week, losing 25-33 to Centennial in their 4A Division 1 Bi-District Playoff game.

I'll have more on Mixon later.
