Pittman wants a fresh start

Phoebus running back Tony Pittman is searching for a fresh start.

Although Phoebus High School's running back Tony Pittman has been to visit Old Dominion University in his backyard, it doesn't look like the 5-foot-11, 200-pound senior will be staying close to home when it comes time for college.

"ODU is a great school, but I don't think it's a really good school for me," Pittman said. The senior said that a lot of people from Phoebus go there, and he "wants to go somewhere and start new where he doesn't know anybody."

Pittman said he thinks Mississippi would be a great school for him, adding "a lot of professional athletes come from there," but he also added that he loves Miami.

He said he loves the "uniforms, the colors, and that Miami produces a lot of running backs that become stars in the league."

When asked about academics, it was all about the Hurricanes: "last time I checked they had a great business program, and that's what I want to major in."

For someone who has "never even been out of Virginia," that is another reason he "just wants to get away."

Stay tuned for news on this senior, as he has offers from Ole Miss, Old Dominion, Miami, Purdue, Syracuse, and Northern Illinois. We will keep you posted!
