Mix Eager for State Title Game

Deon Mix is a name that high school football fans in Mississippi have known for some time. Mix has played a part in two state championships and will look to capture a third this weekend when the Tigers take on Brandon. Mix and his team set a goal to get back to the top of the 6A heap last fall after seeing rival Olive Branch raise the Golden Ball.

"All of this is a blessing," said Mix. "We worked hard and we said our goal was to get back to Jackson and we're on our way now.

"I am proud of how hard everybody worked and I am just happy with how we played.

"We have been working towards this all year.

"We had some slip ups early in the season, but we're good now.

"I'm healthy now and I feel like I am playing at 100%."

Mix and his teammates played a strong game Friday night as they dominated Madison Central for much of the contest.

"We worked hard all week and had a good week of practice," said Mix. "We came out here tonight and executed and things worked out for us.

"We're excited to get to play next week for another ring."

Mix committed to Mississippi State this summer. The three star offensive lineman has not wavered from his commitment since that time.

"I am ready to get up there," said Mix. "I am recruiting every chance I get. Every time I go to a game, I am recruiting my tail off.

"I am excited about the season and I am ready to be a part of everything.

"I will probably take my official visit pretty soon, just to get it out of the way.

"I know were I am going already."
