Scouting Report: Germaine Pratt has been on the radar for several college coaching staffs for some time. Pratt already looks like he should be playing on Saturdays and is one of the most physically impressive junior prospects in North Carolina.
While he is being recruited to play safety in college, he could grow into a linebacker. He has the skill-set to excel at either position.
Pratt certainly passes the "eye test". He is a long, lean prospect and will likely get bigger. His size and big-time athletic ability allow him to roam the secondary and cover a lot of ground. He runs well and did a nice job of reading and reacting once the ball was snapped.
The junior is a very physical. At this point in his career, he is more comfortable playing closer to the line of scrimmage. However, he has all the tools to become a very good pass defender. Improving his technique and coaching should allow him to become better in this area when he gets to college.
Overall, Pratt has a huge upside. He is one of those rare prospects that do not have any serious physical limitations. He is extremely raw, but is a very coachable player that wants to get better. If he continues to work hard and improve, he has the potential to be the top defensive back prospect in the Tar Heel State's 2014 class.
