Florida DE ready to finish great SR season

Marquis Haynes is a talented defensive end prospect from University Christian School in Jacksonville and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Marquis Haynes is on the verge of helping his team win a state championship. They will play this coming weekend for all the marbles, and Haynes is a big reason why.

In addition to having over 70 tackles and 23 sacks on defense, he also has close to 300 yards receiving on offense, and serves as the team's kicker.

At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, Haynes made an early commitment to Louisville before switching to North Carolina just before the season started. He remains pledged to the Tar Heels, and talked about the season they're having.

"I think it was a good season for them," Haynes said. "I got to see them on TV and they worked hard."

Haynes is excited about the opportunity to perhaps play early at UNC.

"They always tell me they can't wait for me to come in and work hard and compete for them," he said.

The standout defensive end says he has not yet scheduled his UNC official visit, and when asked if anyone else is still talking to him about a possible visit he simply said, "no sir."

In the meantime, Haynes will be trying to win a ring next weekend.
