Could Dorton make early decision?

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco defensive end Malik Dorton will be one of the top prospects in the West region next fall and has five early offers on the table.

SJ Bosco had a magical season as the Braves were the top seed in the rugged Pac 5 division and were undefeated before losing in the semi-finals to eventual champion Long Beach Poly. Malik Dorton and several other starters will be back and Bosco could start the year pre-season No. 1 next fall.

On the recruiting front, Dorton has five offers on the table and didn't rule out making an early decision.

"UCLA was my most recent offer," Dorton said. "I also have Oregon State, Utah, Utah State and Arizona State. Most of them have come in the last month so it has been pretty exciting for me.

Florida sounds like they could be close to offering as well and I'm hearing from a lot of other schools but not sure who else might offer. I already visited Utah and really liked it there and I've been to some UCLA games and had a great experience, UCLA has really impressed me this season."

The Bruins definitely appear to be in a good position for Dorton right now.

"I've always liked UCLA and I have actually given some thought to making an early commitment there," Dorton said. "Right now, I still want to take things slow and see where everything is at in the spring.

"I don't want to rush anything and I want to see what other schools are after me and who else might offer. I do like UCLA a lot though and I think I would fit in well there. I play outside linebacker and defensive end, I can play either spot and that fits what they do so I'm pretty high on them for sure."
