Brown looking closely at Arizona

Jalen Brown is one of the top players in the state for 2014. Read on for an update on his recruitment, when he will decide, and more.

Phoenix Mountain Pointe wide receiver/defensive back Jalen Brown might be the best high school player in the state of Arizona for 2014, but he isn't letting the attention go to his head.

"I'm trying to focus on a lot of the little things that kids my age don't tend to focus on," Brown said. "Everybody is working out and lifting weights, which I'm obviously doing. But I'm also trying to eat well and visualize what I'm doing on the football field.

"We were a little up and down as a team this past year, but I thought I played well individually and I credit a lot of that to my preparation."

It's safe to say that coaches have been impressed by Brown's play during his junior season.

"Not a lot has changed recruiting wise in the past few months," Brown said. "I got an offer from Ohio State and Northwestern, but I'm completely open and hearing good things from quite a few schools."

The in-state schools have made Brown a priority recruit.

"I like what's going on at Arizona and Arizona State," Brown said. "The new coaching staffs have good track records and have done a nice job recruiting me.

"I was down at Arizona a while back and everything was great. I got to see some of the school and talk with the coaching staff. Coach Rodriguez told me he sees me making an impact at wide receiver or defensive back."

The recruiting battle for Brown's signature figures to carry on for a long time.

"Honestly, I plan on holding off on making a decision until the end," Brown said. "I don't want to make a hasty decision and regret it later. I would imagine I will probably decide my senior season."
