West Recruiting Notebook

A look at the latest news and notes from out West in this week's notebook...

SoCal Commitments

Two of the better prospects in the Southland made college commitments in the last week, both to Pac-12 schools.

Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame running back Khalfani Muhammad, one of the premier sprinters nationally, committed to Cal.

"Cal has had a number of running backs go on to the League (NFL) and coach (Ron) Gould is a big reason for that. You spend more time with your position coach than your head coach and I have a great relationship with Coach Gould so I felt like this was the best fit for me," said Muhammad.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey safety Jayme Otomewo made his decision and committed to Arizona State.

"I talked it over with my parents and then earlier (Monday), I told them I wanted to commit. They were both excited and said that was where they wanted me to go the whole time. ASU has recruited me hard from the very beginning, I talk to those guys all the time and I'm very comfortable with the school and the football program," said Otomewo.

  • Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco offensive linemen Nico Falah, a USC commit, will visit Washington officially this weekend.

One of the premier offensive linemen in the West in his class, Okun got another Pac-12 offer, from Washington, joining an earlier one from UCLA, and what should amount to several between now and Signing Day 2015.
