Live Evaluation: 2014 QB Chayce Crouch

2014 Newark (OH) Catholic quarterback Chayce Crouch opened some eyes with his performance during his teams loss in the Division VI championship game. FOX Sports NEXT came away from Crouch's performance impressed and provides the following evaluation from the game.

One player that opened eyes during the Ohio High School Championships was Newark (OH) Catholic junior quarterback Chayce Crouch.

Here is a quick breakdown of Crouch from the game.

 PROSPECT: Chayce Crouch

 HOMETOWN: Newark, Ohio

 HIGH SCHOOL: Newark Catholic

 POSITION: Quarterback

 SIZE: HT: 6-3 | WT: 211

 CLASS: 2014

 RANKING: Non-Ranked

WHAT TO LIKE: Crouch looks like a tradition quarterback with a thick frame, strong arm and quick release. While not flashy, Crouch shows solid leadership abilities with the ability to make the majority of throws needed for the next level.

WHAT NEEDS WORK: The true test for Crouch will come in the spring and summer if he attends the several camps and combines available. While his willingness to take chances paid off in the championship game, against a higher level of competition could see those chance turn into turnovers.

OVERALL: Crouch passed for 236 yards and two touchdowns on 14-of-27 passing against a very solid Maria Stein (Ohio) Marion Local club. Add in another 37 yards rushing and a touchdown and it's easy to see Crouch can get things done. Crouch doesn't look to run and does a good job of keeping his eyes up and looking down field as his receivers work to get open. He shows a quick release and had no problem hitting short routes as well as going deep. While Crouch is under the radar now he'll have a good chance to at least open eyes at the several Mid American Conference programs in Ohio going forward.
