Midlands Game Watch: Adam Taylor

FOX Sports NEXT is in the streets this fall to bring you all the coverage from across the Midlands region. Recently, we took in some game action from Katy running back Adam Taylor after a 70-21 playoff win over Cy Ranch. The Nebraska commit had a nice showing on the big stage…

In the Round 4 playoff game against Cy Ranch, Katy (TX) running back Adam Taylor was solid. Because of the 70-21 win, the Nebraska commit Taylor did not see much time in the second half. Either way, check out what he did each quarter.

--Stat Line: 14 carries for 169 yards, 4 TDs*--

First Quarter: After a couple of runs in the first series, Taylor had a nice tough run on a toss sweep right for five yards. Then on a power lead play, at the 8:57 mark in the first quarter, Taylor scored on a 3-yard run. It was only ten seconds later, after Katy recovered a fumble on the kickoff return, that Taylor score again from one-yard out. The next time Taylor touched the ball, he scored. He took the pitch and went 50 yards, out running all of the secondary for the score. Just before the end of the quarter, he had an impressive 7-yard run where he ran over a safety.

Second Quarter: He started with a sweep to the right side for eight yards. Then soon after, at the 11-minute mark, Taylor took the pitch going right, beat the linebackers to the sideline and blew past the secondary for a 50-yard run. AT this point in the game, Taylor had run 10 times for 135 yards. On the next drive, he took the ball off tackle, spinned off another defender and carried two more for a 12-yard pick up and a first down.

Third Quarter: Not many touches that Taylor had in this quarter seeing that it was 49-0 at halftime. Taylor did have a nice 15-yard carry to the right side where he carried three players to move the chains. After that run, Taylor was done for the evening.

Fourth Quarter: Did not play.

*On the season, Taylor has 36 rushing touchdowns, which makes him the all-time leader at Katy for touchdowns in a single season.
