Lauderdale Sets Two Officials

FOX Sports NEXT is in the streets this fall to bring you all the coverage from across the Midlands region. Recently, we caught up with Bellaire wide receiver Devin Lauderdale from Houston, Texas. The former Texas Tech commitment let us know where things stand since opening his recruitment up…

Longtime Texas Tech commitment Houston (TX) Bellaire wide receiver Devin Lauderdale worked fast once he realized that the program that got his verbal pledge lost its coach quickly and unexpectedly.

With that, Lauderdale went to action immediately.

"I'm looking at Oklahoma State, California, Notre Dame, Alabama and West Virginia," Lauderdale said.

In the last FOX Sports NEXT update, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Lauderdale was set to be in Lubbock, TX for an official visit. He still plans to make a trip, but to another Big 12 program.

"On January 18 I'm going to Oklahoma State," Lauderdale said.

On that next weekend, Lauderdale will visit the No. 1 program in the BCS in Notre Dame on January 25.

This past season, Lauderdale caught 27 passes for 583 yards and nine touchdowns. In total, which includes his special teams work, he had over 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns. These numbers are a bit off from his prior year's production, but overall, he seemed pleased.

"It didn't go as well as I expected, but all is well. This season I was nominated as one of the best (players in Greater Houston) and I feel really good about that," Lauderdale said. "Now, I'm just going to prepare myself and get better for college."
