Henry Fond of Hire

Arkansas tight end pledge Hunter Henry (6-6, 240) is a fan of the hire of new Razorback offensive coordinator Jim Chaney. Henry got to know Chaney when the coach was recruiting him for Tennessee.

Count Pulaski Academy tight end and Arkansas pledge Hunter Henry among those happy with Bret Bielema's choice of an offensive coordinator.

That's because Henry (6-6, 240) got a chance to go over philosophy with new Razorback OC Jim Chaney during an official visit to Tennessee.

"My dad and I got a chance to sit down and talk to him for about two or three hours and he seemed like a great guy," noted Henry after taking in the Bruins' 71-63 win over Shiloh Christian Saturday in the Arkansas Hoops Challenge. "He is a really good coach and it was awesome visiting with him because he is such a good coach. It really is a good hire."

Henry caught 107 passes for 1,449 yards and 15 touchdowns this past season and committed to Arkansas back in July. But he's since taken an official visit to Alabama.

He remains committed to the Razorbacks, but is just assessing the situations at both schools as new head coach Bret Bielema continues to round out his staff.

The fact that Bielema has had his last five tight ends play in the NFL is a definite factor in Arkansas' favor.

"It's definitely a big thing because it is a goal of mine to play in the NFL," Henry said. "I know it is going to take a lot of hard work and I am going to take it one step at time. He (Bielema) stresses it a lot."

Henry is not playing basketball this season so his next order of business will be playing in the Under Amour All-Star game Jan. 4th in Orlando.

"I am leaving Sunday, December 30th and coming back on January 5th with the game on the fourth," Henry said. "I am just ready to get down there and compete against the best."
