Skinner reacts to Arkansas hire

Long-time Arkansas commit Deondre Skinner talks about new Razorbacks head coach Bret Bielema and more. Did Skinner take his official visit to Houston this weekend?

Deondre Skinner gives Arkansas a thumbs-up with the recent hire of Bret Bielema.

"I'm really excited," the nation's 20th-ranked senior TE said. "He puts a lot of tight ends in the league. And I really, really like that Arkansas hired the offensive coordinator (Jim Chaney) from Tennessee.

"Right now I'm definitely leaning towards staying with Arkansas. I'm trying to move up my official visit (earlier than February). I had set it late like that to see what was going to happen with the coaches."

Skinner hopes to speak with Bielema soon.

"I haven't heard from the new head coach yet," he said. "Coach Kevin Peoples is leaving for another job out west but is supposed to get me Coach B's number."

Skinner didn't take his official to Houston this weekend.

"They wanted to reschedule because they're out of school this week and want me to get the full experience," he said. "I'm going to visit in January but I'm not sure of the date."

Skinner and his basketball teammates are 3-1 after reaching the finals of a weekend tourney yesterday.

"We lost to New Iberia in the championship game," he said.
