Tulane fans have marked January 18th, a big upcoming recruiting weekend, on next month's list of important events.

"We're all visiting together," 2013 OL Brandon Godfrey said of fellow Curtis commits Eric Thomas, Sherman Badie and Richard Allen. "Tanner Lee (Jesuit) and Nico Marley are also visiting that weekend, and so is Duke."

"Duke" is Curtis senior OLB Duke Riley, who remains uncommitted as National Signing Day enters the home stretch.

"After the state game it was real emotional," Godfrey said of the bond between the four pledges. "We're all solid to Tulane and want to make it happen at the next level there.

"We've been talking and plotting about how to get Duke."

Godfrey spoke recently with the Tulane staff.

"They're really excited to have me and said don't worry about gaining weight," the 6-foot-4, 270-to-280 pounder said. "I'd like to gain 10-to-15 lbs. I got down to 270-to-275 lbs. towards the end of the season.

I stepped on the scale after the state championship and weighed between 273 and 274."

Godfrey said the Green Wave staff "likes incremental weight gain" from its players.

Yesterday, John Curtis celebrated its second consecutive week atop the FOXSportsNEXT.com Top 50 national rankings compiled by Director of Scouting Scott Kennedy.

"The best team Curtis ever had with Joe McKnight came up No. 2 in the national rankings," Godfrey said. "It's really crazy to compare ourselves with that team and say, 'we are that good.'"
