Dowling getting closer to decision

Fallbrook (Calif.) offensive lineman Sean Dowling was a long time commit to UCLA until the two party's went their separate ways last week. The tackle prospect still has some good options on the board and could make a decision shortly.

Sean Dowling committed to UCLA back in the spring but decided to open things back up last week. He still has plenty of options but Dowling knows he needs to make a decision pretty quick.

"I'm graduating this week because I'm an early enrollee," Dowling said. "Oregon just offered me and that's a big offer but it is pretty late in the process. I have room for one more official visit but I don't know if I'll have time to take it since I plan to decide pretty soon.

"This whole experience has been both humbling and exciting at the same time. I wasn't sure what direction to go when things fell through with UCLA but I'm being recruited by some great schools that really like me and want me so it's a pretty exciting time for me right now."

Dowling took official visits to Oklahoma, Oregon State, Vanderbilt and Washington State. He's also hearing from California and San Diego State along with the Ducks.

"I'm getting closer to making my decision but not there yet," Dowling said. "I have a couple of schools in mind and it's going to be a pretty tough decision. All these schools are a good fit for me and I'm just trying to find the best fit. I'm praying every day about it but one day I'm feeling one school, the next day it's another.

"I'm looking at more than just football. Academics and life after football are big too so hopefully I'll be able to decide pretty soon here and get going on the next chapter of my life."
