Cummings family happy with Florida

Darious Cummings and his family have thrown out all their Garnet and Gold and exchanged it for Orange and Blue. The Gators' defensive tackle transfer from East Mississippi Community College may have begun his college career at Florida State, but he'll end it at Florida. Wednesday, Cummings signed the papers to make it official and his parents couldn't have been more proud.

It's been a long road for Darious Cummings and his family. Both his parents are confident that everything happens for a reason and it's all working out for the best.

"It's very exciting. He's been through a growing period where he played for FSU for two years and it was kind of trying for him. He grew from it, and that's what I told him, that it's a learning experience," said his mother, Sharon Cummings.

"It's been a long road and God does things for a reason," said Darious' father, Darry Cummings.

"Everything coming full-circle is really amazing. It makes me feel like maybe Florida is where he should have been in the beginning."

Sharon is looking forward to having her son closer to their home in Titusville, Florida. She said it's a little weird that her son will now be playing for one of Florida State's biggest rivals, but she's already cleaned the house of all Seminole attire.

His parents are confident that the Florida program is a great place for Darious to succeed.

"We're really proud of him and he picked Florida. They have everything that he's looking for in order for him to get to the next level," Sharon Cummings said.

"It's the right choice. They're going to put him where he needs to be on the field, off the field, and in his life. He's got some great people he's going to learn from," said Darry Cummings.

"They're going to do some big things up there and hopefully Darious will be a part of it."
