Jonathan Jackson rushed for over 2000 yards and more than 30 touchdowns at running back. Jackson also doubled as a middle linebacker, leading a Mayfield defense that gave up only 14 points per game while scoring 46 points per contest on offense on the way to the 1-A state title.
"It feels great to win it again," said Jackson. "Going out with a loss last year, we just wanted to do whatever it took to get ourselves into position to win another title. We took advantage of that. We played our best game in the state championship game."
Because of all of the big things that Jackson did this year, he's beginning to see recruiting take shape.
"Recruiting is starting to pick up. I'm trying to work around my basketball schedule to schedule official visits. Kentucky is now recruiting me against and will be by to visit after Christmas break," he said.
And which schools are under consideration for these visits?
Neither Kentucky nor Louisville have offered Jackson and there had been questionable interest. Where does the relationship stand now?
"Honestly, I don't think Louisville will offer. If they were going to, I think they would've done it by now," said Jackson. "Who knows with Kentucky? They are going to come on a visit. It's a whole new coaching staff, so you never know."
FOX Sports Next will keep you posted on Jonathan Jackson.
