Though it was a holiday weekend, that didn't stop four West Coast prospects from making college decisions on Saturday and Sunday.
While it doesn't appear that any prospects will give a verbal pledge to any school on Christmas Day, after defensive tackle George Uko did on Christmas Day in 2009, all bets are off.
Del Rio Makes Surprising Choice
One of the top quarterbacks in the West in the 2013 class has been Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Valor Christian's Luke Del Rio.
Del Rio led Valor Christian to the state championship in his only year in Colorado.
An Elite 11 quarterback, Del Rio had been committed to Oklahoma State for some time, but when offensive coordinator Todd Monken left to take the head coaching job at Southern Miss, Del Rio decommitted.
It seemed like the next step would be flipping to Oregon State, where he officially visited in the fall.
But Del Rio decided to spurn the offer from the Beavers and will instead walk-on at Alabama.
"I didn't want to base my decision solely on if I had a scholarship or not," Del Rio told Scout.com. "I loved my visit to Alabama this week and everything just felt right there. I'm not afraid to work for a scholarship once I get there and I just felt Bama was the best fit for me athletically, socially, academically and geographically. I really missed the South a lot."
In a prep for National Signing Day in February, Wednesday was the day that Juco's signed throughout the country, as well as early enrollees signed their scholarship agreement.
But the big news on Wednesday were all the Juco's that signed with FBS programs.
The biggest signings involved players from Los Angeles (Calif.) Pierce College, defensive lineman Marquel Combs and linebacker Marcus Jenkins-Moore signing with Kansas and tight end Beau Sandland signing with Miami.
Former five-star linebacker Chris Martin, now at City College of San Francisco, also signed with the Jayhawks, reuniting him with Charlie Weis, whom he committed to when Weis was at Notre Dame. Martin decommitted from the Irish when Weis was fired.
Two Golden State quarterbacks signed with national programs, College of Sequioas (Calif.) passer Tyler Ferguson inking with Penn State and Southwestern College (Calif.) signal-caller Brett Nelson signing with Louisville.
College of Siskiyous (Calif.) linebacker Myke Tavarres turned down a last minute charge from Boise State and signed with Arkansas, where he'd been committed to since summer.
Jermaine Kelly- CB - Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian - 2013
Kelly is already a member of the Scout 300, but since his decommitment from UCLA last week, he's added four offers and more schools could be getting involved with him. The four-star has picked up offers from California, Arizona State, Colorado State and Utah and will visit Texas Tech next month.
