East Carolina commit A.J. Coplon had a great senior season. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback finished his high school career by winning a state championship and playing in the Shrine Bowl.

Coplon finished the season with 39 tackles, seven interceptions, seven pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery on defense. On offense, he had 11 catches for 277 yards and three touchdowns. He was also was one of the top special teams players in North Carolina, returning six punts for touchdowns. Coplon also had four tackles in the Shrine Bowl.

Coplon is a great athlete with tremendous ball skills. The Havelock star is a shutdown corner, but also plays very well against the run. He is a smart football player and has knack for making big plays. Coplon will have a chance to make an immediate impact for a Pirates defense that struggled mightily the entire 2012 season.
