"So far it has been great," Smythe said. "I love taking opportunities like this to play against guys who are so talented throughout an entire week, so, so far it has been great."
On the recruiting front, Smythe originally made a commitment to to Texas, but after decommitting from the Longhorns program he is talking to schools like "Stanford, Nebraska, Michigan, Oregon, Florida and Notre Dame".
He has only one official visit scheduled to this point.
"I think I am going to take three or four (official visits)," Smythe informed. "I don;t think I can take all five because I think there will only be four weekend left. But the only one I have scheduled so far is to Stanford on the 11th.
"I am excited to meet the coaches and get a feel for the atmosphere and see if it is a place that I can feel comfortable for four years."
He will not be trying to rush in to any quick decisions, but if the feeling is right he is not ruling out a quick commitment, potentially while on his visit to see the Cardinal.
"Anything could happen," Smythe explained. "But this time I am really looking forward to taking at least several visits, because that is what I did last time. I only went out to Stanford for like 12 hours and then to Texas a couple of times and then committed on the spot there, so this time I feel like I should take a least a couple so I have at least a base to compare things to."
Smythe earned Scout.com Second Team All-Midlands honors for his performance as a senior in 2012.
