The first day of Under Armour practice is in the books and plenty of the nation's top prospects impressed on the practice field. FOX Sports NEXT selected a top performer from each team for the day and it was a couple of defensive ends who stood out the most.
The top performer on Day One on the White Team (Nitro) was Mississippi State
defensive end commitment Chris Jones
. It is really hard to believe that six months ago nobody knew who this young man was. He is a grown man and was just sensational all day. All of 6-5+ with huge hands, Jones has a very high ceiling as he continues to develop his game. Jones had every bit as good of day as Jadeveon Clowney
(2 years), Mario Edwards
(last year), and Chris Casher
(last year) at the UA practices. Like Nkemdiche on the Black team, Jones was a unanimous selection in the top 5.
On the Black Team (Highlight), defensive end Robert Nkemdiche was the most outstanding. The nation's no. 1 player did not disappoint on day one, Nkemdiche showed up in top shape and was dominant in the competition portion of the practice. Nkemdiche is listed at 265, but appears to be carrying more weight, but is no less explosive. Nkemdiche was the only consensus choice for the Black team among the Scout analysts.
