Folston joins top-ranked Irish

Four-star running back Tarean Folston (Cocoa, Fla.) announced today he intends to join Brian Kelly's 2013 recruiting haul in South Bend.

Notre Dame fans expected Cocoa High School running back Tarean Folston to pledge to Brian Kelly's Irish at the conclusion of his week at Friday night's Under Armour All-American Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The four-star prospect couldn't wait, announcing today he'd become the 22nd member of what is poised to be the nation's top-ranked class by FOXSportsNEXT when national signing day hits on February 6.

Folston joins December pledge, fellow four-star, and fellow Sunshine state prospect Greg Bryant as 2013 running backs for Kelly's Irish. Notre Dame will lose its top rusher, senior Theo Riddick to graduation, and could lose backup and former lead man senior Cierre Wood to the NFL Draft. A 2009 freshman redshirt, Wood has one season of eligibility remaining.

The 5'10" 190-pound Folston made an official visit to Notre Dame for the Brigham Young game on October 20, a 17-14 victory for the Irish. Folston was hosted by current freshman cornerback Keivarae Russell on his trip.

FOXSportsNEXT will have more on Folston's commitment live from the Under Armour All-America practices later today.
