Louisiana 2016 Watch List
1. Jon Randall Belton – QB (6-3, 190) – West Monroe

Belton racked up the honors at Good Hope Middle School, one of three feeder programs for perennial 5A power West Monroe High School. He was already 6-2 and 185 pounds during his eighth grade season. On film, Belton is a long-strider who outruns defensive backs at what appears to be a smooth, easy pace for him. He operated the Good Hope offense from both the spread and under center. Belton shows the ability to fire passes into tight coverage. He's been described as a young Cam Newton and also played defensive line in junior high. The former Eastbay All-American should make a strong push for starting QB at West Monroe in 2013 with Michael Mims graduating.

2. Devin White – MLB (6-3, 210) – North Webster

White was a whiz on both sides of the ball for Class 3A North Webster in Springhill. He gained 780 yards rushing on offense with 224 in the regular-season finale vs. Booker T. Washington. White's future in college could be on defense. He's a standout inside linebacker at the moment but could easily grow into a defensive end. On White's highlight film, the heading "Defense Wins...Games" flashes on the screen just before the freshman stops a Booker T. Washington ballcarrier for no gain. White estimates that he is averaging 14 points per game in basketball with a high of 23 vs. Woodlawn-Shreveport. He takes honors courses and maintains a high GPA.

3. Willie Allen – OT (6-7, 270) – John Curtis Christian

Allen (pictured at bottom) had to sit out the 2012 season as a new transfer to Curtis. He says his choices came down to either the Patriots or St. Augustine. While Allen couldn't participate in games, he was able to practice some with the team and senior Duke Riley heaped praise on the youngster. Allen plays basketball and will be eligible in that sport later this month. He gained approximately 45 pounds over the past few months.

4. Mykel Jones – WR (6-0, 180) – Patterson

Jones hauled in 27 catches for 600 yards while playing in an offense that included senior TE Deondre Skinner and sophomore WR Daylon Charlot. He also does an excellent job carrying the ball on speed sweeps. His older brother, Justice Jones, signed with Texas Southern last year. Mykel, who is participating in the UA Combine in Florida this week, is also a basketball star.

5. Ja'Ceiry Linzer – LB (6-2, 205) – Ascension Episcopal

Linzer was set to start at linebacker as a frosh for 5A Westgate in New Iberia, but opted to transfer to 1A Ascension Episcopal in Youngsville shortly before kickoff of the 2012 season. He was declared ineligible for most of the year after switching schools. There are reports that Linzer was cleared to play the final two games for the Blue Gators. At Anderson Middle School, Linzer threw the eight-pound shot 42 feet and ran on 4-X-100 and 4-X-200 relay teams with Tredarius Williams, who is discussed below. LSU and USC are fully aware of Linzer's talents, Westgate head coach Ryan Antoine said in an August 2012 interview.

6. Tredarius Williams – RB (6-1, 190) – Westgate

Williams transferred from Catholic-New Iberia to Westgate during the 2012 campaign. As a result, he didn't get much playing time but will be counted on to assist in filling the shoes of departing RB Jamal Sam. Williams, whose early fave is Florida, faces strong competition as top freshman at Westgate from teammates Jhmad Allen, Taylor Fondal and Jaquandre Allen.
