Jeryl Brazil is among the fastest men in the world, so it's fitting that he won the Skills Challenge at the UA Combine. Brazil was LSU's first commit in the Class of 2013.
Archbishop Rummel senior Cethan Carter pulled in a new offer from Nebraska. Carter is ranked among the top ten fullbacks in the nation, but has seen his recruitment shift completely to the tight end position after a highly-successful season catching the football for the 5A state champion Raiders. Carter has visits set to LSU, Nebraska and with the Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette.
John Curtis Christian 2013 linebacker Duke Riley received his 16th offer from Louisiana Tech. New Tech recruiter Jabbar Juluke, the former Karr HS head coach, extended the offer.
Four-star Kendell Beckwith (East Feliciana) will announce his decision at the UA game. There's widespread optimism and confidence among LSU fans that Beckwith will choose the Tigers. During the past few months, the public consensus seemed to be with Alabama.
National recruiting analyst Chad Simmons reported this week that Beckwith (pictured below) has made up his mind about the school he'll pick tomorrow. He visited Alabama last month and has an upcoming official to LSU in two weeks.
FOXSportsNEXT.com's Brian Dohn and Simone Scott reported that four-star LSU commit Jeremy Cutrer (Jewel Sumner) hasn't taken many reps during practice for the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. LSU fans are hopeful that Cutrer will be able to enroll with the 2013 class. There's been talk for many months that Cutrer needed to improve his academic standing in order to avoid the JUCO route.
TCU leads for Jermaine Antoine (Loreauville), according to HornedFrogBlitz.com recruiting expert Jeremiah Glenn. Antoine will take an official to Fort Worth this month but a concrete date hasn't been finalized. Glenn reported that Antoine is getting new interest from Nebraska and Arizona State.
Recruiting analyst Yancy Porter has been impressed with four-star Texas A&M cornerback pledge Noel Ellis (Edna Karr) during Under Armour practices. Ellis helped Karr to the Class 4A state title last month.
Juniors Jacory Washington (Westlake TE) and Kenny Young (John Curtis LB) are competing at the UA Combine, along with freshman wide receiver Mykel Jones (Patterson).
Four-star LSU commit Tre'Davious White (Green Oaks) caught the eye of Director of Scouting Scott Kennedy during West team practices for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The nation's 16th-ranked CB, White is joined on the West roster by fellow LSU pledges Josh Boutte (Westgate), John Diarse (Neville), Desean Smith (Barbe) and California QB Hayden Rettig.
Tulane has a huge recruiting weekend coming up in two weeks. The Green Wave will host numerous prospects, including commits Tanner Lee (Jesuit), Nico Marley out of Florida, and Sherman Badie, Brandon Godfrey, Richard Allen and Eric Thomas (all from John Curtis).
The previously-discussed Riley, a top Tulane target, will join his four Curtis teammates that weekend. Tulane has been mentioned lately as a possible destination for ex-Arkansas commit Kaleb Blanchard (Denham Springs), as have TCU, Tennessee and LSU.
