"It was a great experience and let me know what it will be like playing in college next year," said Jones, who was rated by the Scout.com recruiting team as the 2nd best defensive end on the Under Armour White Team. "It was a great opportunity. I enjoyed playing in it."
Jones, who was dominant during the Mississippi practices leading up to the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game, felt this game was a little more challenging for him due to the national talent.
"It was challenging," he said. "You had to deal more with technique because of the speed. It made me step my game up a little more."
He learned that there are things he needs to continue to work on.
"It taught me that I need to work more on my technique," said the 8th ranked defensive end. "You can never get too good with your technique."
Despite having an exceptional Under Armour game, Jones felt he could have done even more with a little extra playing time.
"It was great being in the game but I think the coach forgot about me," said Jones, with a slight laugh. "I didn't get to play as much as I wanted, so I tried to make the best of the time that I was in."
With his all-star games behind him, he now focuses on recruiting. A long-time commitment to Mississippi State, he has one visit set up. And that one visit is to Mississippi State.
"My visit to Mississippi State is January 15th," said Jones.
And for Mississippi State fans, he has one quote.
"I'm very solid with State," said Jones, who has seen his stock rise dramatically the past two weeks due to his outstanding all-star performances.
