Daphne High DB Trey Jenkins made the decision in December to de-commit from UAB and open his recruitment back up for visits in January. The hard hitting senior now has his sights set on three schools right now and spoke with the Cajun Redzone about his latest plans for visits.
"I have three schools that are interested in me and I will probably set visits to," Jenkins stated. "I have ULL, Southern Miss and Arkansas State that I plan on visiting this month. I will travel down to ULL with my teammate T.J. Fleeton on Jan. 25th and I'm working on dates for Arkansas State and Southern Miss.
Jenkins will have ample to make a decision on all three programs, but here is how he broke them down.
"I've talked to Coach Rodrigue and he has told me about the things they are doing done there in Lafayette," Trey mentioned. "T.J. Fleeton and Jeremy Sparks have told me how much they like it down there and about the coaching staff. I watched them in the New Orleans Bowl and really liked what they do on the defensive side of the football."
"I had the chance to watch them practice this past week for the bowl game in Mobile," said Jenkins. "I really like there team and coaches as well. I enjoyed watching their practice and what they are doing on the defensive side of the football under Coach Thompson."
"They called me this week to come in for an in-home visit," Trey stated. "I don't know much about the new staff but I do know about the Southern Miss program. We will decide on a visit date once they come to my house this week and we get the chance to met the coaches."
While Trey Jenkins still has some work to do on his ACT score, he is confident that he will gain eligibility to play NCAA college football.
"My last ACT score was a 15, but I really didn't prepare for the test I just went and took it," Jenkins said. "I'm scheduled to take it again on February 9th and I'm confident that I will raise my score enough to qualify. Right now I have a 3.0 GPA this year, so my focus is to raise my ACT score to gain entrance to college."
