Since his decommitment from Florida International in the fall, Brett Sheehan has seen his recruitment gain momentum. The three-star quarterback of Collins Hill High School (GA) has scheduled his first official visit for this month.

Sheehan plans to visit Georgia State on January 18th.

"I just want to see the facilities and see how the other players like it," Sheehan said of the trip downtown. "I want to see how the campus life is...and how good the school's exercise science program is."

Sheehan made his commitment to FIU last June, but reopened his recruitment after head coach Mario Cristobal was released. Until National Signing Day, Sheehan will likely keep his options open.

"I will most likely not commit [on my official visit] because I want to see all the options I can before signing day," Sheehan explained. "I want to give each school a fair chance. I am taking a much more open minded view towards it."

Sheehan has recently heard from Arkansas State and would like to take an official visit there as well.

"Arkansas State would be a nice one to get to," Sheehan said. "They've recently been in contact with me."

Arkansas State adds to a list of others interested in Sheehan, including South Alabama, Bowling Green, FAU, FIU, Illinois State and Furman. South Alabama will visit Collins Hill High School on Friday.

While a football scholarship is Sheehan's goal, he would also consider alternative options on the gridiron.

"I've thought about considering a preferred walk-on position or grey shirting at a bigger school if they were to recruit me," Sheehan said.

Sheehan does not have any further visits scheduled.
