Franklin recaps Tulane visit

Jarrod Franklin committed to the Tulane Green Wave earlier this month, and the University Lab safety talks about this weekend's official visit inside...

Jarrod Franklin feels comfortable with his decision after visiting Tulane.

"It was great," he said. "It was all I expected and more. My host was Jamar Thomas who I already knew well -- with him being from U-High.

"The coaches were relaxed and fun. They went over some plays with me, and I really got to know them. The city was a big highlight along with the campus, which was real nice. We went downtown and to the French Quarter. I got to see a lot of the city."

Another current Tulane player made an impression on Franklin.

"Lorenzo Doss went in and started as a true freshman," he said. "(Doss) said a lot of players will get the opportunity to do the same.

"Jamar loves it at Tulane. He said to keep my head in the books and everything will fall into place."

Franklin didn't know exactly what to expect heading into the weekend.

"Before the visit, I was a little iffy because I'd never really seen much of the campus but now I know that I made the right decision," he said.

The senior helped University to a 12-2 mark and the Class 2A semifinals in 2012. His head coach, Chad Mahaffey, believes the 6-0, 195-pounder has a high ceiling.
