Tucker enrolls early

Hybrid DE/OLB Caleb Tucker is officially a Houston Cougar...

FOXSportsNEXT.com spoke with Caleb Tucker last week.

"Honestly, so far it's going great," said Tucker, who began classes on Thursday. "I'm still new to everything and it will take time to know everybody.

"The city of Houston is huge; it's epic. The campus is also huge. I didn't know the campus was that big. I didn't take an official visit which put me a little behind on some things, but I'm working to build relationships with my teammates."

Tucker was recruited by Coach Brandon Middleton, who persuaded the Ouachita product to switch his commitment from Washington.

"Coach Middleton said he doesn't see why I wouldn't start (as a true freshman)," Tucker said. "My work ethic is out the roof.

"My goal for the spring is playing with the one's. I have confidence that I can do it. I think it will come down to how much I pay attention and learn."

Tucker's roommates are wide receiver Deontay Greenberry and linebacker Phillip Steward.

"(Greenberry) started as a true freshman," said Tucker, who met fellow Louisiana native Trevon Stewart (Patterson HS) within the past few days.

Tucker is already picking up the pace with his recruitment of Ouachita 2014 wide receiver Cameron Sims.

"There's a good chance Sims will be here in Houston after he graduates," said Tucker, a three-star prospect who took official visits to Texas Tech and Washington prior to signing with the Cougars.
