"I just opened up my recruiting and I'm still talking to Penn State. I just took a step back for me to make the right decision," said Walton.

The 5-11, 220-pound linebacker/running back committed to the Nittany Lions over Christmas break after visiting the school.

The 2013 senior had a close relationship with defensive coordinator Ted Roof, who recently departed Penn State to take the same job at Georgia Tech.

Walton said he spoke to Penn State's new defensive coordinator John Butler Monday.

He took an official visit to Tennessee over the weekend.

He will visit South Carolina this weekend and Auburn on Jan. 25.

Walton has an offer from all three SEC schools.

He has also received an offer from Mississippi State.

Walton spent a majority of his senior season at Bayside Academy playing linebacker, recording 122 tackles.

He spent a limited amount of time on offense, rushing for 402 yards on 41 carries.
