First in for Green

And cue the opening of the flood gates for 2014 Cedar Hill (Tx) cornerback Marcus Green. The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder landed his first offer from way of the SEC Monday.

"Guess what!" Green excitedly texted Monday afternoon. "Got my first offer from Ole Miss."

"Coach [Wesley] McGriff came to the school and told Coach McGuire he wanted to offer me on the spot," he explained. "He said it was my size. He said he loves big corners and he found one. He wanted to take me right then."

It had been a longtime coming, as Green was one of the few top-tier defensive backs in the state of Texas still awaiting an offer.

Having been communicating with Missouri closely the last couple of weeks, Green believes Tigers could follow.

"Coach said in the next month, I'm going to get a lot of offers, so we'll see how it plays out."

Green capped his junior season in the Texas 5A-II State Championship, finishing with 65 tackles, 20 pass breakups and an interception.
