Kelsey ready for Louisville visit

One of the prospects the University of Louisville football staff will be hosting this weekend on an official visit is a top linebacker from the state of Florida. Gainesville, Fla., High School linebacker Keith Kelsey is making the trip.

Gainesville, Fla., High School linebacker Keith Kelsey took his first official visit last weekend to South Florida. He's headed to Louisville on Friday.

Kelsey, whose father played at Florida, said he's "really looking forward to talking to the Louisville coaches," when he's in town this weekend for his visit.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Kelsey is also expected to visit Kentucky on Jan, 25 before making a decision on where he'll attend college.

"I really want to just see the coaches, talk to them and get a feel for the team," Kelsey said of the U of L visit. "I want to get to know some of the players better and see what the environment is like around the program."

A first-team Class 6-A All-State player by the Associated Press, Kelsey has never been to the Louisville campus but has heard a lot about it.

With all of the Florida players on the roster and the fact that U of L beat the Gators in the Sugar Bowl recently, Kelsey has learned about the Cardinals.

"I was very impressed with them," Kelsey said. "A lot of people doubted them. But it's not about what people think, it's about what you do on the field. They proved a lot on the field (against Florida).

"Coach Strong is a great coach and I really love what he does for his player on and off the field."
