Sanchez visits Bulls

St. Petersburg Northeast standout Auggie Sanchez visited USF and the Bulls offered him as a tight end/fullback.

Auggie Sanchez (St. Petersburg, Fla./Northeast) was very hopeful going to his official visit to South Florida this weekend. He thinks he got an offer but it's not the position where he wants to play.

"It was a nice visit for sure," Sanchez said. "Those coaches are all business. Coach [Willie] Taggart is a cool dude. We had a meeting yesterday. They want to offer me as an H-back, tight end, fullback. He's supposed to come down to my school and show me how I will be used in his offense. It's certainly something to think about and I will keep an open mind about it. I just see myself as a linebacker."

Sanchez, 6-foot-3 and 220-pounds, is a versatile athlete. He did a little of everything at Northeast high school and does have the ability to play on either side of the ball.

Iowa and Duke are also showing him interest. He could hear from Duke this coming week about an upcoming offer or visit to Durham to see the Blue Devils. Meanwhile, Middle Tennessee State and South Alabama have both offered him a scholarship.

"My coach is talking with Duke and I should know something this week," Sanchez said. "I am just hoping that I can meet up with coach Taggart again. I am thinking about the offense thing. If it's something I like then I know I could see myself as a Bull."
