"I told the coaches during a meeting that I was committing," Smart said. "They all jumped up and said they think we'll be something special.
"The coaches said this is the best class Tulane has had in awhile. I think we'll do something."
Smart says his mother favored the Green Wave.
"I didn't tell her I was going to commit," he chuckled. "She likes the coaches and likes the academics.
"I'm going to give Tulane my all, and I'm going to ball out."
The north Baton Rouge-based prospect hasn't finalized plans for a tentatively-slated North Texas visit on January 25th.
Smart took an official to Texas-San Antonio in November 2012.
The 6-2, 290-pounder capped off his senior campaign with Class 5A all-state (and all-metro) honors.
