It was only a matter of time until Montini Catholic (Ill.) 2014 defensive lineman Dylan Thompson nabbed his first offer.
That time came Saturday.
"I went into Illinois hoping for an offer," Thompson said. "I got called into Coach Tim Beckman's office and he offered."
Thompson's first offer was out of the way, and he was pretty excited about it.
"First I freaked out a little," Thompson said. "I was so excited to finally get my first offer."
The Montini lineman was planning on visiting Indiana for Sunday's junior day -- but couldn't make it.
"I was supposed to go to Indiana's junior day Sunday but we couldn't because of the weather," Thompson said. "So I called Coach Wilson later in the day and he offered me."
He added, "He came to watch me lift last week and today he told me that he likes how I lift with the same explosiveness that I play football with which was really good to hear."
Thompson also took a few minutes to reflect on how his visit to Champaign went.
"The best part of Illinois was the family environment," Thompson said. "And how they were trying to make you feel like you were playing at home."
Another thing he liked about both the Illini and Hoosiers is the defense.
"I love the style of defense they both run," Thompson said. "Especially Illinois with that 'Leo technique' it's awesome."
So with the first two out of the way, Thompson has high hopes for his recruiting.
